Afternoon Bible Study
Unfortunately, it is easy to look around and see the difficulties that surround us. Bills, work, challenges at home, health problems … they seem to be unending. In short, these daily issues can drive us to the point of worrying ourselves sick.

Worry was as much an issue for the Church in Corinth as it is for us in the twenty-first century. Paul's words to the Corinthians should be a light for us today, showing us how to look beyond what we can see with our eyes to what awaits us in Heaven.

God is always working on our behalf. Our human eyes will often paint a different picture. We can only see what's right in front of us. But if we look at where we have come from, the events of our past, we can see God's hand guiding us through the everyday situations that required us to trust Him.


When we take into account the faithfulness that God has shown throughout our lives, then our faith in Him should grow. Our lives then become a testament of what happens when we replace worry with an assurance that God is taking care of our needs.

The only things that will last forever are the things we do and say, the way we interact with those around us, how we encourage and help lead others to God's grace, and all that we do for the glory of God.
Afternoon Prayer
Heavenly Father, my mind is often flooded with worry as I look at the situations that are happening all around me. It's easy for me to forget that you have already provided for everything I need in life. Remind me of your faithfulness and teach me to trust you more every day. Let my worries be replaced with faith in you. In Jesus's name, amen.

Yesterday Afternoon's Bible Study
"The very beginning of the Book of John states that Jesus is the Word, and He was with God in the beginning, and that He is God. In verse 14, John restates that simple declaration, and also says that the Word dwelt among us.

To people in the ancient world (and even people today), the idea that the God who created the universe would come down and dwell among common people seemed fantastic yet also impossible.

The world expected a majestic king who would rule and reign. Instead, God sent a baby who grew into a young man and then into One who would die for humanity's sin. Many refused to believe that Jesus was the Son of God, even after they saw Him perform great miracles in God's name.

Imagine seeing Jesus face-to-face, seeing Him minister to the broken and hurting, and still not recognizing His power and authority. Not only did they refuse to accept who He was, but they condemned Him to death on a cross for proclaiming that He was God's Son.

The restoration of mankind to God the Father was enormously important and destiny-changing for all mankind. God knew that Jesus was the only choice to redeem us and bring us grace and truth. We should live in a way that demonstrates our gratefulness and tells others about the Good News of Jesus.
Yesterday Afternoon's Prayer
God, thank you for sending Jesus to earth. As I read about His example in the Bible, I am encouraged in my faith. With your strength and power inside me, I can overcome the world and spend eternity with you. Let me live in a way that shares the Good News with those around me. In Jesus's name, amen.
