Today's Bible Verse
2 Corinthians 12:10 (KJV)

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

In this passage from 2 Corinthians, Paul writes about how he accepts the Lord's decisions, even when He doesn't remove something that has caused pain. He knows that when he is weak, the Lord gives him strength. His infirmity has forced him to a new level of reliance on the Lord, and his weakness is a vessel for Christ's strength.

Have you ever despised your own weakness? I know that I have been frustrated with all sorts of things about myself and my surroundings at different times in my life. This seemed to prevent me from doing the work that I felt I was called to do. However, my perspective was wrong. I should have remembered that the Lord does not want us to focus on our own weaknesses, but instead His strength, which is more than sufficient for anything that we need in our lives.

What does it mean to have strength in the Lord? It begins with understanding that we are not responsible for anything but ourselves. We do not have to judge our effectiveness by anything other than our obedience to Him; the results of our efforts are entirely up to God. Instead of having our identity in what we do, we can remember that we are His children… loved and accepted just as we are because Christ has covered us with His perfect righteousness.

When you feel weak or broken, remember that the Lord does not expect you to be strong. Instead, He desires that we call out to Him, embracing all that He is. We are not called to make ourselves strong and then come to the Lord. Instead, recognizing our weakness and utter dependence on the Lord for everything in our lives, we are called to seek after Him and His fullness, knowing that He will sustain us through every trial we face. He is our strength, a comfort to the weak.

Today's Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for being my strength when I am weak. When I feel like I have nothing in me to give, you help me serve other people. When I feel lost and alone, you are my companion. Thank you for sustaining me through every circumstance, through thick and thin, and being my Lord through everything. In Jesus' name, amen.

This morning's verse comes from Psalm 147, which is a song of praise to the Lord. Throughout the psalm, we learn many reasons for the praise, from God being mighty in power and knowing the exact number of stars, to how He heals the heartbroken and tends to their wounds. This reminds us that the Lord is a healer; one who is compassionate and loving at all times. Today, we'll talk about how this truth encourages us in our daily lives.

Imagine if you were feeling broken, and the Lord didn't care about that. But of course He cares—He loves us dearly. In fact, when the Lord saw his children's brokenness, He sent Jesus to Earth to save them. He lived and died to heal our spiritual brokenness. And we can trust that if He cares that much about us, He will not turn away when we need Him. Instead, He comes to us, figuratively "binding up our wounds" with His merciful, everlasting love.

Yet even though we know the Gospel and have experienced the love of Jesus, it can sometimes be difficult to believe that He is listening to our cries for help. Especially when we have been longsuffering, it can feel like the Lord isn't listening. However, in times like this, it is important to distinguish our feelings from the truths we find in scripture. If Psalm 147 says that He heals the brokenhearted, then we can know that He heals the brokenhearted. He does what He says He will do; we can cling to God's promises because they are true.

I think one of the biggest messages conveyed through the Bible is that we can trust the Lord with our lives. We can trust Him for our salvation, for our security, for our hope, and for our healing. He has healed us spiritually once and for all through the work of Jesus, and He will bind our wounds when we call out to Him.

Today, if you need the Lord to heal your broken heart or bind up your wounds, come to Him with boldness. Pray this psalm, praising the Lord for His tender, loving nature, and ask for the healing that only He can give. He cares about our pain and will work in our hearts when we call out to Him.

Yesterday's Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for being so good to me. Thank you for caring about all of my wounds. You know every broken piece in my heart, Lord, and I ask that you would speak into it, reminding me that your love is everlasting. Heal my wounds and make me more like Jesus. In His name I pray, amen.
