Yesterday's Bible Study |
In this morning's verse, David is rejoicing in being saved from his enemies by God. After living in hiding and uncertainty for so long, David exults in the Lord, saying that he loves Him and that the Lord is his strength. Today, regardless of where you are in life, you too can experience the strength of the Lord.
David had a long road to get to Psalm 18. A tyrannical King Saul sought to kill him, which is what caused David to flee into the wilderness. He knew what it meant to rely on the Lord for everything: for food, for shelter, and for his life. He knew only the Lord could save him; there was no other way he could have lasted. The Lord was faithful to him through all those years, and David learned that the Lord was his strength always.

Have you ever felt like you were at the end of your rope? Faced a situation so impossibly difficult that you had no idea how you would make it? It was through these situations that the Lord made Himself known to David on a deep level, and David knew that the Lord was helping him. The Lord had promised that David would be a great King of Israel, and He became David's strength as he waited for his time.
The Lord offers strength to the weary and comfort to the broken. He does not want you to feel beaten down by the world or hopeless. We know He is near us all the time and that He is good. If we call on the Lord and are honest with feelings and needs, He will give us strength. He will help us honor Him this hour, this minute. We can cling to His glorious promises of Heaven, and ask Him to begin to strengthen us in our souls, just as He did for King David so long ago.
