Today's Bible Study
Jesus is speaking in today's verse, telling His followers that they should not judge, condemn, or withhold forgiveness from people who hurt them. The reason is that if we judge, we will be judged. If we condemn, we will be condemned. If we forgive, we will be forgiven. Today, we'll look at the importance of treating others with grace, as this verse urges us to do.

When we judge or condemn another person, we are taking God's place in exacting justice. We're saying it's up to us to make sure the person pays for what he or she did, rather than leaving it in God's hands--as though we don't believe He is capable of handling it. This is an act of unbelief, and it's important that we recognize the gravity of what we're doing.


We know that no one gets away with anything, even if it seems like they do. The Bible says that what we sow we will reap--and so will all who have wronged us. Indeed, if we want to understand how seriously the Lord takes our sins against Him, we only have to look at the cross. Jesus's brutal death and separation from God was the price for our sin.

If the Lord could forgive us, we can forgive those who have wounded us.

This is why the verse says that if we judge, condemn, or do not forgive, we will experience the same. We cannot experience God's forgiveness unless we believe and know that Jesus is Lord. However, if we repent and come before the Lord to receive grace, He will supply it in abundance, and we will be able to share it with others in our lives.
Today's Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you so much for forgiving me for all of the sins I've committed against you. Help me to never forget the grace that you have shown me over and over throughout my life. Please show me where I have harbored unforgiveness in my heart, and help me to forgive those who have hurt me. In Jesus's name, amen.

Yesterday's Bible Study
King David wrote today's verse after the Lord delivered him from his enemies. While he was once hiding for his life and lived in exile, David was finally set free from them once and for all. Psalm 18 is a song of praise to the Lord for saving him, and an acknowledgement that there is no one like God. Today, we'll consider how knowing the Lord gives us hope, as it did for David so long ago.

Think about who the Lord is. He has promised to be faithful and He is, without fail. He is always near us and never forsakes us. He is infinitely loving. He saved us in unfathomable grace. He knows us deeply and calls us His children. In addition to these truths, God is all-powerful and knows everything. Think about all of these attributes of the Lord! The One in charge of everything is full of love for His creation--we could not ask for a better scenario. In the words of David, there is no God, save the Lord!


Knowing that the Lord is good and all-powerful gives us hope, just as it did for David. Nothing can ever happen that runs against God's goodness and sovereignty. God knows more about your needs and situation than you do, and nothing will ever happen that changes His love for you. In the midst of every uncertainty, we have a solid rock to stand on … the love of our Lord.



Having a sure foundation in the Lord gives us hope. It reminds us that some things can never be taken away. The Lord will always love us--nothing can change that. Nothing will ever interfere with our salvation. We have a firm foundation in Jesus Christ, and the most important things in our lives are untouchable by the vicissitudes and uncertainties of the world. Jesus is our ultimate source of hope because He is the creator of hope, and regardless of what we are facing today, we can cling to Him forever.

Yesterday's Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for being my rock and my salvation. You have saved me and are now my perfect hope. Thank you for being true to all of your promises. Thank you for being my eternal, everlasting source of hope. In Jesus's name, amen.
