Isaiah 12:2
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song.
Today's Bible Study
In this verse from Isaiah, we have a hymn of salvation in response to God's promises of a Messiah. Today, we will look at each phrase in the verse, which is full of practical applications for our lives today.
The verse begins, "Behold! God is my salvation." Do you ever meditate on the fact that God Himself has saved you from all wrongdoing? If not, take a moment to think about that now. God is a perfect being, fully complete and holy just as He is. We humans were sinners, unworthy of God and unable to know Him. Jesus came, paid the price for our sin, and saved us once and for all.
Because God is our salvation, we are able to trust in Him and not be afraid. The Lord demonstrated His love for us when He died on the cross, enduring death so that we could be free. He proved Himself trustworthy… once and for all.

This morning's verse also says the Lord is our strength. He is near to us in all circumstances. When we are discouraged or upset, we can call on Him to help us. He will strengthen us when life is difficult, and He will always be there for us even when no one else is.
Finally, the Lord is our song… and He gives us plenty of reasons to sing. His faithfulness, love, and goodness are among them, and the greatest of all is the matchless and eternal life that He has given you and me.

Today's Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for being a trustworthy God and for always being faithful. You are my strength and my song because you sustain me in all circumstances. Thank you for eliminating all of my reasons for fear, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.

In this morning's verse from Deuteronomy, Moses pronounces a blessing over Asher, one of Jacob's sons. Let's take a look at the very first phrase of this verse, "The eternal God is thy refuge." What exactly does that mean?
The first adjective, eternal, means that God will always be with us. There is never a time when He will not exist; He has always existed and will always exist. So, we never have to feel alone or unheard… we know that He is always here.

God is our refuge means that He provides with safety, peace, comfort, and a place of rest—security where there is none. We can be anywhere in the world and still be sustained by the Lord. We will never be out of His reach or care.
Think about the challenges that you are facing in the coming days. Do they make you nervous or afraid? Sometimes circumstances are challenging. Yet we can broaden our perspectives, take a step back, and remember who God is… eternal and our refuge.
The Lord is in control of every circumstance; nothing happens unless He allows it. Even if something terrible happens to us, God does not change. He is always good, present, and loving, even if our circumstances cause us to lose sight of that. Make the decision to count on God, even in your suffering, and you will experience Him as your eternal, everlasting refuge.
