Today's Bible VerseThou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
Add to FavoritesIn this verse from Psalm 32, we have a sweet reminder that the Lord is our strength. He is our hiding place, will protect us from trouble, and will deliver us. Let's consider these three truths and talk about how they apply to our lives today. What does it mean for God to be a hiding place? I think of a hiding place as a safe place where I can be myself. I can be completely honest with how I feel, including my fears, uncertainties, questions, and hopes. It is a place where I can safely be raw and vulnerable before a loving God. It's also a place where I am fully known and fully loved. Even though God knows the many sins that I've committed, He sees me with eyes of compassion and love. The second truth in this verse is that God will preserve us from trouble. This means we don't have to be afraid when we face uncertainties and troubles. He will help us honor Him in the midst of whatever we are facing. No matter what seemingly impossible situation we are in, there is a path of obedience to God through it. Keeping this in mind will help us avoid slipping into despair; instead, we can focus on maintaining our relationship with the Lord.
The final truth is that the Lord will deliver us. I love this part because it has already come true! Even though King David wrote Psalm 32 before Jesus walked the Earth, this was a prophecy of what was to come. And as promised … Jesus has delivered us from sin and death once and for all. These three promises give us the strength to keep honoring God in a world that does not know Him. They encourage us to press on, especially when it is difficult, because honoring God is more important than anything on Earth.
Today's PrayerDear Lord, thank you for being my hiding place. Thank you for being near to me always, and for covering me with your love and faithfulness. Help me to remember your promises and the great deliverance that you have already given me. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.
