Yesterday Afternoon's Bible Study |
"Most of us have heard the story of Jesus' death so many times that we can forget the magnitude of what He suffered. Our Savior endured cruel and painful treatment and still willingly gave up His life.
Religious leaders mocked him. They had declared that He was a false prophet and were happy to see Him suffer a criminal's death. What they did not realize was that 700 years earlier, the prophet Isaiah had predicted Jesus's suffering. In Isaiah 53, we come to understand that this wasn't a random event--it was planned by God before the foundations for the earth.
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus paid the full price for our sin and overcame death forever. Not only did His stripes heal our bodies, but also our souls. He was wounded for our transgressions, and He was bruised for our iniquities. He took on the full weight of sin for us.

Even though He knew no sin, His love for us while we were sinners compelled Him to atone for our sins. His healing extends to our physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.
As we submit to God in the way that Jesus did, we will one day experience total healing. It is never too late to receive God's forgiveness. He made provision for us long before we were ever born. His mercy endures forever.
