Yesterday Afternoon's Bible Study |
"We tend to be worriers. We worry about our families, jobs, friends, money, needs, safety … the list goes on. We want to be in control and make sure everything our loved ones need is taken care of. Somehow, we believe that worrying about those things can make it happen.
What-ifs can take over our minds if we aren't careful. They can cause us to react instead of turning to God. Worries and what-ifs can rob us of a peaceful night's sleep and leave us feeling exhausted and helpless.
This afternoon's verse in Philippians says that we should present all of our requests to God. In exchange for our petitions, we are given His peace. This isn't just an okay feeling that happens when we stop allowing ourselves to worry. This is a heavenly peace that is beyond our comprehension … and it can ours just for the asking.

Because God is concerned with all of our cares, He will never make us feel like our worries don't matter. God listens to the cries of our hearts like a concerned Father. When we pray and present our concerns, we can leave them with God and then move on, placing all of our hope and faith in Him.
When we feel the temptation to worry, we should immediately give our cares to the Lord. He will take away our worries and replace them with the kind of peace that only He can provide.
