In this verse from Hebrews, we are reminded that we have full assurance of hope. This helps us to remain faithful in the midst of whatever we are going through, knowing that the Lord will sustain us and that we are walking toward a glorious end. Today, we'll talk about what it means to be assured of hope.

What do we hope for? Think of the things that the Lord has promised. Death is the greatest fear for most people, but the Lord has already conquered it for all of us through the Resurrection. We do not need to live in fear or anxiety because we know that death is only the beginning of life with Him. Life with the Lord is in Heaven, in perfect and sinless communion with Jesus. There is a happy ending on the horizon! This gives us hope in the future. We know that nothing on Earth could ever happen to us that will change our destiny; we are secure in the Lord always.

Knowing that we can rest entirely in Jesus means we can work with diligence today. We don't have to wonder if our attempts to love our neighbor, understand the Bible, and grow in spiritual maturity will be in vain—we have full assurance that we are planting seeds and will be rewarded after we die.

Today, if life seems to be beating you down, remember that the Lord is with you constantly. Remember that the God of our future is also the Lord of today, and that He will meet you and speak to you right where you are. Take a moment to reflect on all the reasons that you seek the Lord and continue to do hard things like loving those who hurt you and forgiving other people. Our hope is assured, our future secure in the Lord, and He is mighty and faithful to make good on His promises for each of us.

Today's Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you so much for the hope you have given me. You have given me a full life in you, and I am so grateful for your grace. Help me to return again and again to the hope that I have in you. In Jesus' name, amen.

If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. :

In this verse from 1 John, we are reminded that the Lord is a God of love. All love comes from Him, and we, the recipients of His love, are called to share it with other people. By loving others, we show that we know the Lord. Today, we will talk about how to love each other and why it is such an important part of the Christian's life.

Think about a time in your life when you felt especially loved by someone else. What did the person say or do for you? I can think of kind words delivered at just the right moment, gifts that showed me that the person cared for me and loved me, and being truly listened to when I needed a friend. Although everyone may define love in different ways, ultimately love is seeing other people as beloved children of the Lord.

When we begin to see other people as God's creation, we will recognize that how we treat them affects the Lord greatly. He sees and cares for all of those around us, and suffers when His children are mistreated. We would be wise to consciously show love to others, remembering Whose children they are.

When we love other people, we are also recognizing how much we are loved. Think of the nicest thing you have ever done for someone whom you love deeply. What you did, and how it made you feel, are nothing compared to the love that the Lord has for you. His love for us is beyond comprehension.

We can continue to grow in our own understanding of His love by spending time in the Word, praying, and worship—indeed, the more time we spend with Him, the more we will love Him. This is because we will realize how much He already loves us.

Yesterday's Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you so much for being a God of love. Thank you for loving me when I was not lovable; thank you for showering me with grace when I could never deserve it. Please help me to show your love to other people. In Jesus' name, amen.
