Today's Bible study

When Jesus sent out His disciples to spread the Gospel, He gave them the power to drive out evil spirits from people and heal sickness. They were given the tools for spiritual and physical healing.

The Lord was in the process of restoring the earth, and one of the most important parts of that was eliminating disease and sickness. Because of this, when Jesus sent out the disciples, He gave them a pivotal role in this restoration—healing. When they healed other people, they were able to point them to the Lord, showing them what God is like. If the Lord is able to and wants to heal people, this means that He is truly God and for their good.

The physical healing that the Lord offers to us is a reflection of the internal healing that He has provided for us. While our bodies might be broken and need healing, our souls need it so much more. When we are sick, we can take a moment to reflect on our souls, which were sick and hopeless without the intervention of the Lord. When we came to know Christ, He healed the rift between us and the Lord once and for all, making us whole and well again in Him. He is a God of healing.

There is nothing in your life that the Lord cannot break through. There is nothing that is impossible for Him, nothing that is too far gone for Him. Be bold in your prayers for healing, asking God to do the miraculous in your life. As a sinner saved by grace, you are already a walking miracle because you have a transformed heart. And, like the disciples of so long ago, you know the Lord.

Today's Prayer

Dear Lord, I am so grateful that you are a God of healing. There is nothing impossible for you. I ask that you would please heal the broken parts in my life, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Help me to never forget the healing that you have given me in my soul. In Jesus' name, amen.

If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

Yesterday's Bible study

In today's Proverb, the writer tells how anxiety can make the heart feel heavy, while good words can restore it. This reminds us how important it is to be aware of when we're slipping into worry and anxiety, and gives us a game plan for what to do when that happens. Today, we'll discuss how this verse affects how we respond to worry and anxiety.

Have you ever gotten so anxious about something you felt like you couldn't move? I think it happens to everyone at one time or another. And when it does, this Proverb offers a way out: a good word. Encouraging words bring life into the soul, helping us gain perspective on the world (not everything is falling apart!) while also reminding us that we are loved by other people. If you are struggling, reach out to a Christian friend or a pastor who can pray over you. If you don't know anyone, there are prayer lines and online communities created for this.

However, the best word we could ever have or experience is found in the Bible. There is nothing anyone could ever say to you that would compare to the wonderful news that you are loved by God. You are loved so much that the Lord was willing to send His son to die for you. If the Lord loved you that much, He certainly cares about the situation you are currently facing. He knows exactly what you need, and He will meet you where you are when you call out to Him.

And if you know someone who is struggling with worry and anxiety, remember the power of a good word. Reach out to the person, show that you care, offer some kind words. Even if you are struggling, seek out someone you can encourage in the Lord… and it is almost certain that you too will be encouraged by it.

Yesterday's Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for providing a way out of worry and anxiety. Help me recognize when there is a heaviness in my heart, and help me turn it back to you again and again. Please remind me to trust you instead of slipping into worry. In Jesus' name, amen.
