In 1 Corinthians 13, the famous "love chapter," Paul writes that we should continually abide in faith, hope, and charity. He then refers to charity, meaning love, as the greatest of the three. In other words, the most important attribute of the Christian life is love. Today, we will talk about why love is so important and how we can begin to apply it to our lives today.
When we consider love, it is a pretty all-encompassing attribute. If we love the Lord, we will hope in Him and be faithful to Him. But what does it mean to abide in love? There are a number of ways that love expresses itself, but abiding in love as Christians means that we are living in the love of Jesus. When we focus on the love that Jesus has shown us, we will naturally be like Him to other people. |

Setting aside time to reflect and think about the love that God has shown us will prime us to abide in His love even when we are not praying, worshipping, or studying the Bible. It will help us cultivate a lifestyle defined by love because we are fully aware of the love we have received.
Loving other people should not be a drain on the Christian. But to be honest, sometimes I feel like I get tired of serving and loving other people, and I wish that someone would reach out to me in response. There is an error in my thinking and behavior that leads to this: I am not truly meditating on Christ's love for me. Instead of showing love where He has directed me to, I might be impulsively (instead of prayerfully) giving. If we struggle to find the right balance in showing love to other people, we can ask the Lord to help us and to remind us first and foremost of the love that He has for us.
