Today's Bible VerseIn whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
In this verse from Ephesians, Paul talks about the forgiveness that we have through Jesus. Through the blood of Jesus, we have been forgiven in a beautiful act of grace. Today, we'll think about the gospel and how it has the power to change our lives using this verse.
Let's start with the first phrase: "In whom we have redemption through his blood." For someone to be redeemed, they must have been in a difficult position in the first place—they must need redemption. And that's all of us; without Jesus, our sin means that we would never be able to have a relationship with the Lord. We would always be separated from Him because we would be forever unholy.
But we don't have to be separated from God because Jesus made a way for us. His innocent death on the cross made possible our redemption. When He cried out, "It is finished," Jesus was talking about the payment for our sin. We, once and for all, had the ability to be reconciled to God forever. His innocent blood redeemed us, giving us final forgiveness of sins.
Now, once we have confessed our sins and repented (turned away) from the sins in our lives, we will never face judgment for them. We will not have to give an account that explains how we fell into temptation or hurt another person. This is because all of our sins have been taken care of—our sin debt was paid in full when Jesus died on the cross.
If we know Jesus, we are living in the riches of His grace. We have discovered true life through Him. Our entire lives have become a living testament to the mercy of the Lord, and we can rejoice in Him and the grace that He has shown us.
Lord, thank you so much for the redemption and forgiveness you have given me. I did not deserve to be redeemed, but you made a way for me. Thank you for your goodness; thank you for being a gracious and loving God. I love you, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.

Yesterday's Bible VerseBless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; :
King David writes this psalm to remind himself of the many ways that the Lord has been faithful to him. He wants his soul to bless the Lord! He lists some of the reasons why the Lord is worthy of blessing: He forgives our sins and heals all diseases. This encourages us that the Lord does not despise us in our affliction, but instead reaches down to minister to us. He is a healer, physically and spiritually, and we can trust in Him.
Think about the parts of your life that need healing. What is an area of brokenness that is not yet healed? The Lord has promised to one day heal it. It might not be healed until Heaven, but you can rest assured that healing will come because the Lord has promised to forgive all iniquities and heal all diseases. Whatever your affliction is now, it is temporary! Because of this, we can live in victory today. We do not have to be downcast because of our burdens; rather, we can use them as a reminder to think about our future hope.
Knowing that the Lord is a healer gives us the strength to face each day. It reminds us that we do not serve an indifferent God, but a faithful and loving Lord. He cares about our pain and meets us in the middle of our sorrow. He knows exactly what we are going through, and He experienced every level of hurt when He walked this Earth. This means we can trust Him with our weaknesses; we can turn to Him again and again because we know that He is good.
Because of all these truths, David tells his soul to bless the Lord. He is commanding his body and mind to honor God. He has decided to reflect on the goodness of the Lord and to respond to it; his feelings have no say in the matter.
Even if we are in the midst of sorrow or still waiting for healing, we can turn to the Lord, knowing that He is faithful and will meet our needs. Our souls can bless Him in any circumstance and through every trial.
Dear Lord, thank you for being a God of healing. You do not despise my afflictions, but instead, meet me exactly where I am. Thank you for satisfying all my needs and for reaching down with comfort and love. In Jesus' name, amen.
