Afternoon Bible Verse
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
Corinthians 15:58 (KJV)

Afternoon Bible Study
In Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, he encourages followers of Jesus to stand firm and let nothing move them as they serve the Lord.

When we give ourselves wholeheartedly to serving God, it isn't a guarantee that life will be easy. But when we build our lives on the solid foundation of God's Word and learn to trust Him, we will be able to stand firm when the tough times happen … and they will happen.

We also need to be mindful of spending our time and energy doing things that will last for eternity. When we serve others and give from our hearts, we are storing up treasures in Heaven that will last for eternity.

Sometimes it may seem that the things we're doing are small and inconsequential, but our efforts are not in vain. If we only rely on our own strengths and abilities, we will invariably fail. God determines how what we do for Him will affect others.

God looks at our hearts and is more concerned about our relationship with Him than anything we could accomplish. We should aim for the goal of being faithful to what God has called us to do.
Afternoon Prayer
Lord, I need your help to be steadfast. Often, I depend on my own strengths and abilities, but my personal desires and motivations easily sway me. I know that as I serve you, my efforts aren't in vain. I am a carrier of your living hope to those around me. Thank you for helping me stay in my faith in you. In Jesus's name, amen.

Yesterday Afternoon's Bible Verse
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature."
Mark 16:15 (KJV)

Yesterday Afternoon's Bible Study
"Mark 16:15 is also known as The Great Commission. It empowers followers of Jesus to be active participants in spreading the Gospel around the world. It doesn't encourage us to merely go out into the world and see what's going on.

The Great Commission lets us know the critical part that we play in telling the world about Jesus. To the early apostles, this mission might have sounded impossible. How would a group of average men spread the Gospel? But they understood the call and obeyed.

After He was resurrected, Jesus ascended back to Heaven and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father. We are the bearers of His testimony of salvation to those around us.

"

The world needs to see true believers who live out a relationship with God and have a love for humanity. The love we show will demonstrate that we are true disciples. Saying that we follow God isn't enough; we need the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us to draw people to Him.

God still uses His followers today to reach people all around the globe. Currently, there are more than 7,000 groups of people in the world who have never heard of Jesus.

Each of us can play a part in reaching them. The question is, how will we respond to the call?
Yesterday Afternoon's Prayer
God, I'm so glad I'm part of the Christian family. It's a privilege to carry out your mission of spreading the Gospel, but I am incapable of telling others about you without the power of the Holy Spirit. Please fill me with your love for those who don't know you. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus's name, amen.
