Yesterday Afternoon's Bible Study |
"Everyone on Earth wants to be happy. Theologian Aurelius Augustine once said, "I am not alone in this desire for happiness, nor are there only a few who share it with me: without exception, we all long for happiness They may all search for it in different ways, but all try their hardest to reach the same goal, that is, joy."
A search for joy and happiness can explain most human behavior and people typically search in all the wrong places, rather than simply turning to God. The world tends to depict God as stern and serious and anti--fun, but that is far from the truth! The Bible reveals that God Himself is the giver of the only true joy available to humanity.
God not only wants us to receive His joy, but to revel in it so much that it fills us to overflowing.
So how do we find this godly joy? It begins by seeking the Lord's presence in our everyday lives. When we are aware of His goodness all around us, it takes our eyes off our worries and cares of this life. This re--focus allows us to understand that God is continuously reaching out to extend His love toward us, His children.
